The National Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (NFARMC) conducted a special meeting today, 12 January 2024 at the 3rd flr. Conference Room, BFAR Central Office, Fisheries Complex, BPI Compound, Visayas Ave., Quezon City. USec. Drusila Esther Bayate, Chairman of NFARMC, members of the DA-BFAR officials led by Atty. Demosthenes Escoto, National Director and representatives from other national agencies, members of the academe, non-government organizations (NGO) participated in the event to discuss the following agendas:
- Proposed Amendments to Fisheries Administrative Order No. 197-2, series of 2012, entitled: Amended Rules and Regulations Governing the Lease of Public Lands for Fishpond and Mangrove-Friendly Aquaculture.
NFARMC serves as the advisory and recommendatory body to the Department of Agriculture. It was created to assist in the formulation of national policies for the protection, sustainable development, and management of fishery and aquatic resources, and the preparation of the National Fisheries and Industry Development Plan.
