The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), through the Fisherfolk-FARMC Coordination Office, conducted the 1st Special Meeting of the NFARMC in a hybrid set-up on July 25, 2025 in Quezon City. Members of the DA-BFAR officials, led by Undersecretary for Fisheries of the Department of Agriculture and Chairperson of the NFARMC, and National Director of BFAR, Dir. Elizer S. Salilig, MFT and representatives from other national agencies, fisherfolk fishworkers, members of the academe, non-government organizations (NGO) participated in the event.

NFARMC serves as the advisory and recommendatory body to the Department of Agriculture. It was created to assist in the formulation of national policies for the protection, sustainable development, and management of fishery and aquatic resources, and the preparation of the National Fisheries and Industry Development Plan.
